Dr. Keith McMullen

Dr. Keith McMullen holds and MA in Theology and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He has a broad range of training and experience in treatment modalities ranging from cognitive behaviorism and biofeedback to Jungian analysis and archetypal psychology. A passionate interest in music, literature, spirituality, comparative religious studies, and the creative process informs his approach to therapy. He has worked in the field of chemical dependency for the past 10 years. With each client his goal is to facilitate a dialogue in which the client is an active participant in gaining a deeper understanding of the unique reasons underlying the dependency on drugs or alcohol, followed by collaborating to create more life-affirming ways to find and express meaning and purpose. In addition to his responsibilities as clinical director and individual therapist, Dr. McMullen leads equine-assisted group therapy sessions, in which group exercises with horses provide an experiential context for self-discovery. In the equine exercises, many of the dynamics being discussed in the therapy sessions manifest behaviorally, and through learning to be successful in the group exercises, new patterns and skills are practiced and developed. When not at Passages he finds meaning and purpose in his love of music and is the co-founder of pfMENTUM, a Ventura, California new music organization that promotes live new music performances at Ventura City Hall, and releases new music CDs on the pfMENTUM record label.
